Charmed Cards & Crafts - UK Card Making and Scrapbooking Supplies

Dcoupage provides is a great way of creating a 3 Dimensional effect by layering the images onto your project. Individually the papers are also great for providing backgrounds for greeting cards etc, and ideal in a frame or aperture cards.

To create a 3 Dimensional effect:

  • Cut out the images into identical shapes, and mould them into the desired shape (if required). You can do this by placing your cut-out face down on a soft surface, and moulding it with a rounded implement . ..
  • Glue the first layer onto your card with acid free glue. Note that as a rule four images are required to produce one full 3D dcoupage design
  • Now attach additional layers onto the first, separating them with blobs of silicon glue, or small pieces of double-sided sticky foam..
  • The final piece can be tweaked to add a sense of fullness to the image, for example if you are using a flower image you can "lift" the leaves and petals to give a realistic look.
  • TIP! You can glaze your work to make it more dramatic, or perhaps to create an "aging" effect.
