Products used: K&Co Lotus Tea Rose Collection & some K&Co Lotus Faded China

Project Guide:

  • I used a gorgeous sheer die-cut sheet for the base of this layout and a ‘moody’ picture of my 16yr old daughter, Abi, was ideal for this.  She is often ready to pose for the camera and this was one of a few shots I took at the time.

  • I aged the photo with a scuffer and aged the edges further by curling over and tearing, and adhered to the sheer sheet with double-sided tape.

  • I then played around for ages with the K&Co embellishments and blooms to place them just so, before I stuck down.  The camera was inked around the edges and then stuck down using sticky pads to lift it slightly from the page.

  • The flowers are a mixture of Tea Box Die-Cut Cardstock Ephemera and Tea Box Floral Grand Adhesions, all layered with each other to give a real 3-D effect.  The fabric bloom I used was painted with white pearl acrylic paint to soften the colour a little and so it wasn’t such a solid colour.

  • A strip of cream lace runs behind the flowers and through the left hand side.  I used some ribbon and fibre to tye around the large black flower.  The ‘lovely’ and ‘perfect’ labels were inked and then curled to follow the flow of the flower petals.

Products used: K&Co Lotus Tea Rose Collection & some K&Co Lotus Faded China

Project Guide:

  • I just love the colours of these two K&Co sets of paper and they all coordinate together so well.

  • For the base of the card I used a sheet from the Lotus Mat Pad – ideal for matting and layering on your scrapbook pages and for cards.

  • I am using old book pages in my projects at the moment – it really helps with the vintage look.  I attached two strips of the book paper onto each end of the blue patterned paper and then I sewed it all onto a card blank.  I then went round the edges of the paper and book paper with ink and lifted and tore the edges.

  • The branch is one from Faded China Adhesive Chipboard, the bird and other cardstock embellishments are die-cuts from Tea Box Ephemera and the flower is a Tea Box Grand Adhesion.  The word ‘Mum’ is Lotus Clearly Yours Alphabet.  I always play around for ages placing the embellishments in different ways before I am happy with the placement and then I stuck down with a mixture of double-sided tape and sticky pads.

  • A bit of cream lace and some brown twine finished off  the card!

Gift Box

Designed by Caroline Scattergood

Products used: K&Co Lotus Tea Rose Collection & some K&Co Lotus Faded China

Project Guide:

  • I’ve had this box hanging around for ages just waiting for the right paper to come along and the K&Co Lotus papers and embellishments were ideal for it.

  • I cut a piece of paper so it left a larger margin around two sides and so the embellishments would show more if they hung over the edges of the paper.  Before sticking onto the lid of the box I sewed a piece of old book paper onto the centre of the patterned paper, then I stuck down with double-sided tape and then lifted and tore the edges of both the book paper and the patterned paper.

  • All embellishments were a mixture of die-cuts and chipboard together with some blooms of my own.  I interlinked the embellishments through grey ribbon which was applied to the lid after the paper but before the embellishments were put into place.  The grey ribbon was in two pieces, linked in the centre and then the four ends stuck on the inside of the lid.

  • I finished off with a gorgeous large fabric Lotus Tea Box Brad in the centre of the ribbon but also going through a Tea Box Fabric Tag which hangs beautifully from the box.  Ribbon and string were then tied around the brad.

Canvas - 10 Reasons to Smile

Designed by Caroline Scattergood

Products used: K&Co Lotus Tea Rose Collection & some K&Co Lotus Faded China

Project Instructions:

  • I first cut a piece of red patterned paper just slightly smaller than the size of the canvas board.  I then cut two further pieces of paper – a pink spotty and a plain cream, the cream piece being slightly smaller than the spotty.  Laying these two pieces together on top of the red patterned I sewed into place.

  • I then lifted the edges of the cream card to show glimpses of the spotty paper underneath.  The spotty paper is the same as the dress that one of the little girls is wearing.

  • The green flowers around the edge again match the other little girl’s dress and are taken from a 12x12 sheet of Lotus paper and intertwined with some glittery flowers cut from another sheet.  This was a gorgeously glittery sheet of flowers – ideal for cutting out and using individually.  Some of these I lifted using sticky pads.

  • The picture of the two little girls is taken from the Lotus Die Cut Ephemera and I sewed onto the paper along three edges – just so I could pop in the little list titled ’10 reasons to smile’.  This can be pulled in and out of the little pocket.  I thought it would be nice to give to my friend for her birthday in April and I am hoping she will fill in the little tag of ten things which make her smile and then when she feels like she needs cheering up she can pull out the tag and remind herself of those things which make her smile.

  • I used one of the lovely Fabric Tags on the right hand side, edged it with lace on one side and some book paper on the other, and lifted the bottom of the tag and secured with a Fabric Brad.  I used a paper rose top right.

  • I then stuck the whole layout onto the canvas board.  You can display with an easel or attach ribbon and use as a wall hanging.

For You Card

Designed by Caroline Scattergood

Products used: K&Co Lotus Tea Rose Collection & some K&Co Lotus Faded China

Project Guide:

  • This card is assembled layering the red patterned paper, book paper and striped paper and then sewing onto the card blank.  I then lifted and tore the book paper for an aged look.

  • I cut out a glittery flower from a 12x12 sheet – ideal for using individually on projects, they are so glittery! – and carefully inked the edges.  I then placed on the card using sticky pads.  The little pink circles are stuck on using tiny pieces of sticky pad and then carefully curved around the edges.

  • The butterfly is from a 12x12 sheet of die cut butterflies, and the wings are lifted by using three layers of sticky pads.

  • The journaling panel is from the Die-Cut Ephemera and ‘For You’ is a rub-on.
