Hogwarts in the Snow Layout by Karen Leahy

QUICK GUIDE: We were so excited to visit the Harry Potter Studio Tour again this year as we had never seen it all decked out for Christmas. One of the most spectacular parts is the enormous model of Hogwarts and, whilst it was hard to capture on film, it looked amazing in the snow. I used the dark red damask paper and cut it to and 11” square and then edged it with some fancy stamps and white ink. I mounted it on a piece of the blue snowflake paper and also used blue snowflake paper for the title (cut in a Harry Potter font) and the mount. I overlaid a torn strip at the bottom of the mount to simulate the snow.
It was a really simple page as I wanted the picture to be the focus and so I added a chipboard sleigh which had the right vintage feel, a candle on foam pads and a couple of word strips from the chipboard sheet and the sticker sheet. I also used one of the tags as a journaling block. The whole collection just worked so well as it had such a vintage and traditional feel.
Joy in the
snow by Karen Leahy

QUICK GUIDE:
I
used the large spotted paper for the background to the page as it had a
fun whimsical feel to it and I wanted to showcase a photo of me in the
snow as we so rarely ever have snow here.
I
mounted the photo on some grey/blue card and tore the right hand edge to
soften it a little before adding a strip of the red under the edge. I
faux stitched this to the background and then overlaid a strip cut from
the paper edged with two more thin red strips to tie in the red.
The
vellum sheet of sentiments and pictures was almost too gorgeous to cut,
but the word JOY made the perfect title as it echoed the snowman and the
fir cones and branches from the side strip and by overlaying it on the
photo it sort of blended the photo into the title.
The
chipboard snowman was just the perfect accent and so was the tag from
the noteworthy pack, anchored with a flower and button from the Ephemera
pack which just tied in the colours perfectly.

QUICK GUIDE:
One
of the things I love about this pack is that it is so traditional (I am
a traditional sort of girl) and there was little more traditional than
these photos of my friend’s son and daughter.
I
wanted the page to look like a lot of globes or baubles hence the
emphasis on the circles throughout the page.
I
cut circles from the green spotted paper and mounted the photos inside
them. I decided not to go for complete circular photos but preferred
them sticking out of their frames. The infill in the circle is simple
the reverse of the paper slotted back in. I also used part of the infill
from the large circle to be the semi circle at the bottom of the page
for balance.
To
give the circles something to sit on I used another of the border strips
from the border sheet (I loved those borders)
I
added the title JOY from the sticker pack – so gorgeously sparkly and
then I strung three of the circles from the pack on Bakers twine,
raising them up on foam pads and adding glitter so they tied in with and
echoed the title. I used buttons from the Ephemera pack
Naughty or Nice by Karen Leahy:

collection.
Nothing screams traditional to me more than Santa and I loved the photo of my husband trying to sneak a look at Santa’s book listing who was naughty and who was nice. The Bo Bunny Tis TheSeason papers were just perfect for such a traditional Christmas photograph. QUICK GUIDE:
I started by edging the gorgeous wood grain paper on the back of the
Ornaments paper with thin strips cut from the striped back of the
nostalgia paper to make a red and green border. Although I carefully
mitred the corners to keep them neat I didn’t like the way the
stripes met and so I made small corner pieces cut from a square of
red cardstock, inked, folded and attacked with small dark green
brads.
For the frame I mounted the picture onto bright red cardstock and
then added a border of candy cane baker’s twine using double sides
tape. The packaging of the paper pack was so gorgeous I just had to
use it, so I cut the title block saying Tis the Season out and used
it as a tab for the photo frame mount. To echo that circle I cut one
of the roundels from the numbered sheet of paper which said
‘Absolutely no peeking’ and just begged to be used on this page. I
mounted it on some of the red cardstock and on some of the dark
green that was the reverse side of the numbers sheet and finished it
with a baker’s twine bow to tie it in with the rest of the frame
before adding it to the frame on foam pads.
I cut lots of strips of the different papers and used them as
banners beneath the frame. This is a great way of using up scraps of
paper. You know I never throw ANYTHING away! I then added the frame
on the top.
I added some word strips, a cut out title from white and red card
and finished it with one of the chipboard Santa embellishments.
Holidays are coming by Karen Leahy

QUICK GUIDE: Like so many others I watch eagerly for the Christmas adverts on TV and whilst they are all good, the one that really means Christmas to me is the advert for Coca Cola with the huge truck and that music – that music is the sound of Christmas for me (it really is – it’s my ringtone this time of year too)
The traditional papers in the Tis The Season collection worked so well with these photos. The contrast with the border strip and sub title block and the burgundy dot paper was a really traditional theme for the page. This collection just shouts tradition to me – though it has so many elements with that modern twist too. I used a cream cardstock as a base and added background papers of the cream and red dot and snowflakes.
One of the squares from the seasons greeting paper was the perfect topper for the page and once inked in burgundy it brought the page together, echoing the square insert photos which go with the large picture.
I used a border strip cut from the seasons garland paper and because I wanted a large title (and yes – I used the coca cola font) I added some small left over strips at the bottom left corner to balance the page and also a small grey chipboard heart from the collection. You should also be able to spot a small ‘Tis the season’ on the right of the main picture cut from the title strip of one of the papers

QUICK GUIDE: I don’t hold with dressing animals up and my husband was furious with me, but he was just too cute not to dress up. Sad he ended up looking like a football hooligan rather than a Santa cat, but then he is the naughtiest cat in the world. I used two pieces of the Ephemera papers for the background and stitched them in place with white thread which I then coloured red to tie in with the red on the LOVED block. The loved block was just too gorgeous not to leave as the title. I mounted one of the tags from the reverse of the peace sheet onto some red paper to make it stand out and did the same with the hanging heart from the noteworthy pack. I added a strip of the poinsettia paper to bring out the red again and finished the page off with some of the flowers from the noteworthy pack, one of the numbered roundels (#1 of course) and the chipboard triple ornament with Santa on. I also added three of the word strip stickers from the combo sticker sheet
