Tropical Travelogue by Karen Leahy

Products used: Graphic 45 Tropical Travelouge Deluxe pack

The deep blue colour in the collection is so rich that, in order to combine it with aquarium pictures, the yellows made the perfect foil.

I mounted three photos on white card and then onto a strip of the Garden Isle paper which was cut to 11” x 3 ˝”

I cut the top and bottom strips off the Oceania paper and kept them to one side for this page and for other pages. They were too nice not to use as a separate item.

I cut a block of the Oceania paper 8” x 10.5” and used the fishy side of the paper. Most of it ended up covered but I knew the fish were there even if it wasn’t obvious to everyone else.

I centred this block on the white cardstock background and then added the strip of photos on the orange paper over the top of it.

The title for the page was cut from the Tropical Travelogue paper and I fussy cut round the orange flowers to the right of the title.  I added it to the page, sealing he gap with one of the strips I had taken off the Oceania paper. To balance the flowers on the right I cute several more from the reverse side of the Garden Isle paper and mounted them on foam dots.

I loved the three orange fish on the Tropical Travelogue paper so cut those out and added them but it needed more fish and so I cut three from the Oceania paper using a very simple template I cut.

The fish needed to breathe so I added stickle bubbles to each one.

I added a printed out roundel under the title and two die cut swirls from the Garden Isle paper to bring in more of the orange and finished with a small journal block and a couple of embellishments from my own stash.

Ready to Pounce by Karen Leahy

Products used: Graphic 45 Tropical Travelouge Deluxe pack

I loved the Exotic destinations sheet but the border, round the edge, was way too pretty not to use when you cut the different tags and blocks out so I opted for a sand coloured piece of cardstock and stuck the border round the edge of the page. It had a jungle feel to it and so worked really well with the photo I was using.

I cut a piece of Paradise Postage 10” by 5”, using the reverse delicately patterned side, inked the edges and used it as the photo mount and placed it in the centre of the page.

I also added a strip cut from the Tiki Voyager paper as they helped accentuate that jungle feeling I was looking for.

The picture had a lot of green and so I was able to bring in the green by cutting out a selection of leaves from the rainforest paper and tucking them under and over the photo block. I also tucked in a couple of the postage stamps as they added that little pop of colour that the page needed without spoiling the earthy feel.

I cut a title from black card and printed a couple of other small embellishments. I also punched some butterflies from the Rainforest paper and added those. The tag was from the Exotic Destination paper and I used some sage green ribbon. Finally I stamped a camera onto some cream card and added that.

Pismo Beach by Karen Leahy

I wanted to make the photo a real focus and the colours of the papers in the range helped that to happen. I mounted the photo on a piece of Paradise Postage approximately 6” x 8 ˝”, inking the edges in a dark brown. I then mounted this on a piece of Hibiscus Heaven and then mounted that on a smaller piece of Garden Isle, inking all edges.

I made sure the mounted block was centred on the page. I used the Tropical Travelogue journaling block from the Seaside Holiday papers, inking those edges too and placed it overlapping the photo slightly on the right hand side of the page.

I then cut out lots of hibiscus flowers and leaves from the Island Jewel paper and overlapped them on the photo so that they cascaded down the page from top to bottom to give the page some flow. I added some more flowers cut from Hibiscus Heaven and mounted some on foam pads. I absolutely love collections which have floral papers that you can fussy cut to make totally coordinated embellishments.

I added a few butterflies punched from scraps of the same papers and also added a few of the tickets and stamps from the Tropical Travelogue sticker sheet, tucking them in amongst the flowers.

Our travels by Karen Leahy

I used a slightly oversized photo for this page and mounted it on the spotted paper Hibiscus Heaven, offsetting it slightly so there was a larger piece of paper to the right hand side. I then mounted this on a piece of Garden Isle. Once this was adhered to the page I added a stamped border along the top and bottom edges of the mounted block using a coral coloured ink.

I wanted to bring in the blue colour from Nigel’s shirt as it looked very pale without a pop of colour and so I used a strip cut from the Oceania paper down the left hand side and balanced this blue with the destination tag from the cardstock stickers.

I softened the edges of the photo and mounts by adding flowers cut out from the Island Jewel paper and also a few small flowers cut from Hibiscus Heaven mounted on foam pads. I absolutely love collections which have floral papers that you can fussy cut to make totally coordinated embellishments.

I made the title from some alphabet stickers added to one of the tags from the Exotic Destination paper. Finally I added two of the Travel Travelouge chipboard tags and some stickers from the Travel Travelouge cardstock sticker sheet and a couple of punched butterflies from scraps of Travel Travelouge paper.

Beach Girls by Karen Leahy

Products used: Graphic 45 Tropical Travelouge Deluxe pack

When I saw the Travelogue papers I was so taken with the vintage bathing girl holding the parasol on the Tropical Travelogue paper and knew I wanted to make her the focus of a page and she would work great as a title. I cut her out and trimmed her, edging the cut edges in brown ink.

I used to photos – one of my mother and one of myself – on the beach. Mom’s was black and white and mine looked too garish in full colour so I made the background black and white to coordinate with the other photo and just kept me in colour. I could have printed the whole thing in black and white but I chose not to as I wanted to show a time difference.

I mounted the two photos onto the cream cardstock, leaving a gap between them which was filled with the Vintage beach title block I had made. The page was far too stark with the cream and so I cut the border from the Seaside Holiday paper and used that as the perfect border for the page.

To tie the block and border into the page I used a strip of Oceania paper slipped under the left hand side of the photos.

I didn’t want the journaling, which was quite heartfelt, to be visible and so I cut the Travelogue cover and pages out from the Exotic Destination paper and made it into a little booklet which would hold the journaling. Sticking it on the page at the left it also covered the untied edge of the title block.

I added some small woodgrain letters saying ‘girls’ onto the title block and finished the page with a couple of stickers from the cardstock sticker sheet and a couple of flowers cut from the Garden Isle Paper.

Discover by Karen Leahy

Products used: Graphic 45 Tropical Travelouge Deluxe pack

The collection has absolutely amazing borders and I really wanted to make the most of them for this page. There were some absolutely gorgeous jungle type prints to use and so this page focuses on borders and jungle.

I used a cream background as many of the prints were quite strong and so it needed something plain to break up the different borders and squares.

I I used the Jungle Fever paper and cut the plain very outside border of the map side out, flipped it over to the zebra print and fixed it to the edge of the page.  I then cut the triangle/jungle border from the same side and fixed that onto the page. I was left with a square from the centre which I trimmed down slightly and flipped to the zebra print side before adding it to the cardstock as the base for the photos.

I used two 62 x 42 photos, cut down slightly, and offset them. The page was already very busy and so I kept any embellishments simple. I used some die cut vines out of green cardstock and added leaves cut from the Rainforest papers.  I added a couple of the paradise stands and I also added a tag cut from the Exotic Destination paper for the journaling and the small map rectangle from the same sheet to add a little detail to the top corner. I also used a zebra print brad from my own stash.

Caribbean Beach by Karen Leahy

Products used: Graphic 45 Tropical Travelouge Deluxe pack

I started with the Jungle Fever paper using the map side of the paper as it worked well with the picture I wanted to use.

I mounted the photo on a piece of the Garden Isle paper and then onto a piece of the coral Hibiscus Heaven. I faux stitched around the Hibiscus Heaven edges. I mounted that on the map paper and began adding embellishments under and over the mount. I used one of the heads from the Tropical Travelogue paper which worked well as a focus directing into the picture. I also cut out one of the birds from the Botanica paper and added that as well as one of the Beach words from the cardstock stickers. I made this into a second title with some small letters.

Finally I added some cut out flowers from the Island Jewel papers and also three stickers from the Cardstock sticker sheet, one for the journaling and two word strips.

Seaside Holiday by Karen Leahy

Products used: Graphic 45 Tropical Travelouge Deluxe pack

For this page I used one of the heavily patterned papers called Tiki Voyager and added a strip from the Exotic Destinations paper down the side as I wanted to bring in the travel stamps. I also mounted the photo on some of the exotic destinations paper, ton at the bottom to make a more rustic feel. I added pieces of the deep Blue Oceania paper to the side and bottom of the photo mount and then echoed the blue with the two photo corners from the cardstock sticker sheet and one of the cards from the tropical travelogue sheet. I needed to reflect the pinks in the photo and so tucked in one of the cards from the Botanical sheet and overlayed that with one of the tickets from the cardstock sticker sheet mounted on Oceania. The journaling block was cut from the Exotic Destinations paper and edged with another of the cardstock stickers to bring the colours together again.

Finally I cut the parrot out of one of the botanica cards and mounted him on a circle of Exotic Destination paper with a cascade of leaves from the Rainforest Sheet and a chipboard tag at the top.

Adventure by Karen Leahy

Products used: Graphic 45 Tropical Travelouge Deluxe pack

I loved the small green leaves of the Rainforest paper and it made such a great background for a jungle page. I had a border left over from cutting up a Jungle Fever paper and so I added that on top to break up the green a little.

The photo was mounted onto seaside holiday (the dark check), Garden Isle and also Seaside Holiday (the green snake print) I then centred this mounted block on the Rainforest paper.

I wanted a title so I cut the top from one of the cards on the Seaside Holiday paper as it said Adventure. I only used a part of the card and the reverse of the remainder of that card was perfect at the bottom of the photo mount to bring in a bit more of the light green (waste not want not!)

I loved the very natural toned palm tree card from the Botanica paper and so inked that and used it at the side and added an Exotic Destinations tag for the journaling. Finally I finished it with lots of leaves and flowers cut from Rainforest and Island Jewel papers and a roundel and word strip from my own stash.
