Birthday Card

Men like flowers, yet we tend never to use anything floral on masculine cards as we see them as being too feminine. These days our men are much more in touch with their feminine side. This card uses flowers yet the flowers have a very strong masculine look.

  • Cut a sheet of Black Bazzill Bling Cardstock into A5 card size. Fold and score.
  • Measure all around the card to have an even border. Using a sheet of paper on the edge of the card to protect  brush gold ink onto the card in a random fashion. You want a strong line on one edge with the ink feathering in towards the middle of the card.
  • Cut a piece of the same cardstock and stamp a birthday greeting. Emboss with Black Super Sparkle embossing powder. Ink the edges of the stamped cardstock then attach a black brad in each corner.
  • Print out Metallic Flowers from the Wings & Flowers software on Photo paper. Cut out and ink the edges with gold ink then attach as shown. The black flower is layered with two blooms.

Father Day Card

This is a great card for an older child/adult to give to their dad.

  • Wrap a large A5 card in Basic Grey Pistachio paper.

  • Stick a large Herbanella "Dad" Page Accent onto the card.

  • Glue a strip of brown suede paper to the bottom half of the card.

  • Stamp or write "Happy Fathers Day" on a large Tag and thread fibres through the top. I wrote freehand using a Black Sakura Gelly Roll Pen which gives a glossy and raised appearance. Attach a gold clip to the tag and stick onto card using Glue Strips.

  • Attach another gold clip to the suede border.

Card 3

A quick and easy masculine birthday card.

  1. Wrap an A6 Square Aperture card in Masculine Aged Leather paper. Use a suitable background for the aperture, I used a piece of scrap cream Hammer card.
  2. Decorate with Dress It Up Buttons and a CraftyBitz Birthday tag.

Card 4

A great decoupage card for children to give to their dad on his birthday (mum makes it!).

  • Cut a rectangle of cream Doodlebug Bazzill with a 1cm margin all around a dark blue card and glue it onto the card. Cut another panel from HOTP Cardmakers Jewel Creative pack, this time with a 1/2cm margin, and glue it onto the Bazzill panel.

  • Cut out the desired picture from a Decoupage sheet and glue it onto the card. Pick out certain elements in the picture that you want to be 3 dimensional - I chose the two smaller bears, the newspaper with the daddy bear's hands, and the slippers - and layer them onto the original picture using foam pads or blobs of silicon to separate the layers. Build it up as much as you want.

  • Cut out a tag shape from the HOTP Cardmakers Jewel Creative pack and stick on the letters DAD - here I used blue Blitzen letters. Glue the tag onto the card and finish with a Dress It Up Candle button.
