American Craft plain cardstock

Petaloo Flowers

Tools: Fiskars Treading Water Punch

Project Guide

  • I used a lovely cream piece of AC Cardstock as the backing to this layout.

  •

  • Cut a strip from the Summer Soire Strips paper – ‘The Sweet Days of Summer’ and add along the left of the page.  From the same Strips paper cut out the fancy green border and attach that next to the word strip.

  •

  • Using a strip of the reverse of the Beach House paper I made a scalloped border using the Fiskars Threading Water Border Punch.

  •

  • Cut half of the decorative shape from the Destination paper and place alongside the scalloped border.

  •

  • I cut out a photo of Cam (my youngest son) from a photo – the background of the photo was too busy to use on the layout so I thought it would look better just cutting the figure out!  He is keeping cool by spraying a water from a water spray into his mouth.  (One of the nice days we had last summer – 2008!).

  • Take the Summer Soire  Paradise Transparency and place on your page.  Position the photo accurately under the transparency before sticking it down.  Add some Summer Soire rub-ons flowers to the cardstock, using the transparency as a guide.

  •

  • Cut out the sun and clouds from the Strips paper and another sun from the Sunkissed paper.  Layer one on top of the other to add depth.

  •

  • Add title – Keepin’ Cool.

  • The word ‘keepin’ was made using K&Co Monogram Rub-ons and ‘Cool’ from the Basic Grey Hip Mini Monograms.

  •

  • To keep the transparency in place I added some Petaloo Dahlia Flowers on the top and secured right through the transparency and cardstock with brads.

American Craft plain cardstock

Fancy Pants Daily Grind Chipboard

Stickles

Project Guide

  • Using the American Crafts coloured cardstock-Blue, I cut the background to match the shaped card blank and sewed into place using a sewing machine.  Scuff up the edges to create a distressed/aged look.

  •

  • Cut out flowers and leaves from the Beach House paper.  It takes a while but I find it quite therapeutic!

  •

  • The centre of the large flower was cut out again separately and stuck with a sticky pad on the flower.

  •

  • Use Stickles to the centre of the flower and over the card.

  •

  • Use chipboard shapes (Fancy Pants The Daily Grind) – butterfly and ‘smile’ - to add further depth to the card.

  •

  • I added some rub-ons coloured dots from the Summer Soiree 8x8 pack.  I adore rub-ons and these are some of the nicest and easiest ones I have ever used.  No need to rub for very long, they just glide on.

Products used:

Summer Soire Collection by Fancy Pants

American Craft plain cardstock

Petaloo Flowers

Tools: Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Fiskars Treading Water Punch

Project Guide

  • Using the reverse side of the Glimmer  paper I sewed it into place on the card blank.

  • I distressed the edges slightly using a scuffer.  As the paper is white core it reveals a nice white edge.

  • Emboss a strip of yellow AC Cardstock with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder and then using the Fiskars Threading Water Border Punch create the scalloped border.

  • Add Summer Soiree Woven Ribbon onto the top of the scalloped border and another rub-on along the bottom of the card.

  • Add a rub-on above the ribbon.

  • Take two of the Petaloo Hula Dahlia flowers and join together with a gem flower.  Add a brad through the centre of the gem and flowers and add to the card blank.  Add a hat pin (designers own).

Fancy Pants Daily Grind Chipboard

K&Co Citronella Adhesive Chipboard

Project Guide

  • Using the reverse of the Wave paper, I cut out a part of the fancy border at the top of the page to use as my card backing.  I used a small piece of the stripy Lounging paper to go across the top of the card and sewed into place.  I exposed the white core by using a scuffer to lift off the first layer of paper.

  •

  • Add a border from the reverse of the Strips paper and take the word ‘carefree’ from the Sunkissed paper.

  •

  • Add some coloured dots from the rub-on sheet above the carefree central border and bottom right of the card.

  •

  • Add Petaloo flowers with Summer Soiree Buttons as the centre of the flowers.  Add a Fancy Pants The Daily Grind chipboard flower.  Add K&Co Citronella adhesive Chipboard Stickers in between the flowers to add dimension.

Fancy Pants Daily Grind Chipboard

Project Guide

  • Using the Glimmer  paper as my baking paper I sewed into place on the card blank, made from the Orange AC Cardstock.  I deliberately sewed a double wobbly line.  Distress with a sandpaper scuffer to reveal the white core, just along the edges.

  •

  • Emboss a piece of the orange cardstock with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder and cut into a circle and a circle frame.  Sew into place.

  •

  • I cut the word ‘enjoy’ from the Sunkissed paper and attached to the bottom of the card.  I added a little flower rub-on to the right of the wording.

  •

  • The heart chipboard is from the Fancy Pants The Daily Grind pack.

  •

  • I finished off by adding Organza ribbon and the gorgeous Red Ball Trim ribbon.

American Craft plain cardstock

Petaloo Flowers

Project Guide

  • Taking scraps of paper from the Summer Soiree range tear down the one edge to reveal the white core.

  •

  • For the middle red strip emboss using the CuttleBug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder.  Ink all the outside edges with black ink.

  •

  • Overlap them and sew onto a card blank (I used AC white cardstock for mine).

  •

  • Using one of the cards from the Summer Soire Cards paper stitch onto the middle of the card.  Add the word Summer taken from the Sunkissed paper.

  •

  • Using the Summer Soiree Woven Ribbon, create a pleat effect whilst sewing the ribbon into place.

  •

  • Add Prima flowers to the centre of the Petaloo Dahlia flowers and secure to card with a brad.

Enough Time Layout

Designed by Caroline Scattergood

Products used:

Summer Soire Collection by Fancy Pants

American Craft plain cardstock

Tools: Fiskars Treading Water Punch

Project Guide

  • Using the 12x12 Summer Soire Lounging as the backing paper I added torn paper on top of some AC Cardstock-Green and sewed into place. The photo is of my eldest son Jake, looking very pensive about doing nothing.

  •

  • Attach Summer Soiree Woven Ribbon into place across the page.  With some scraps of the paper create a scalloped border using Fiskars Threaded Water Punch and add to the page under the photo, along with an orange border strip.

  •

  • The sentiment ‘There’s never enough time to do all the nothing you want’ is from the Cards paper.

  •

  • Add rub-ons and the half circles are created by drawing round the inside of my double-sided tape roll!

  •

  • Add Summer Soire buttons and random Summer Soire rub-ons to finish.  A simple layout because the background paper is so striking it seemed a shame to cover much of it up!

Project Guide

  • Use the reverse of the Summer Soire Destination paper to create the backing for this card.  It has gorgeous faint blue butterflies on it.

  •

  • Use scraps of the Wave and Sunkissed papers to create the fancy borders to the side of the card.  Ink along the edges with black ink.  Sew onto a card blank.

  •

  • Cut out two butterfly shapes and layer.  Tie a small piece of organza ribbon around the body and add a pin.  Curl the wings of the top layer of butterfly.

  •

  • The adhesive, glitter chipboard ‘travel’ is from K&Co’s Citronella range.  Add little domed dots to the bottom of the card to finish. (Hat pin designers own)

Petaloo Flowers

Basic Grey Obscure Hip Mini Monograms

Project Guide

  • I used Summer Soire Wave and Strips paper to create this card.  Ink the edges and then sew onto a card blank.  Using scissors stress and age the edges of the paper.

  •

  • Punch out a circle and emboss with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.  Stick to the card with foam tape.

  •

  • ‘Hi’ is from Basic Grey Obscure Hip Mini Monograms.  Lots on a sheet and the colours match the Summer Soiree range perfectly.

  •

  • The little gem flower on the top of the ‘i’ is included within the Petaloo Dahlia flowers box.  Add little dots or brads to the bottom of the card to finish.
